preparation-is-the-key

A couple of days ago, I had a dream, a really strange dream, in this dream I was talking to a fellow, with an issue and the issue was this, his relatives had brought a bride to him that he was supposed to be marrying, unfortunately it seemed that he was not prepared for this marriage and to make matters worse he was past the age of marriage.

As I pondered over this strange dream, I believe the Holy Spirit begin to speak to me on an issue very dear to God’s heart, this man was unprepared for something that he was already due or in fact over due for.

If there is one thing we need do today, it is to live in preparation for the things that God is bringing us into, these works many ways, for example we need to be prepared for the coming of the Lord, and we need to be prepared for the things that he has called us to.

One of the things the Holy Spirit showed me was the main reason why many people will fail to find and fulfill their purposes in God is a lack of preparation. Somebody said, ‘success is what happens when preparation meet opportunity’.

David was prepared for Goliath by the many little tests he had passed along the way.

If there is something we should hold dearly before us it is the fact that God’s purposes for our life will need adequate preparation, whether it is for a pulpit ministry or one to the Church or society.

By preparation I am not just talking about our time in bible school or in some form of theological institution, though that may be a part of it, but the kind of preparation I speak of is the one that Jesus himself will lead you through.

Jesus said to Peter and the rest, ‘follow me and I WILL MAKE YOU fishers of men’.

The process of preparation is the process of making, the end result is that we become effective fishers of men, our duty is to follow him.

The no 1 reason why our preparation is inadequate or non existent is that we often try to prepare ourselves without his help.

The process of preparation begins with the choice to follow him, as we do this he will lead us along the paths he has chosen, my experience is that there are so many ways he will begin to school you in the things you ought to know and do, he may lead you into one form of formal education or the other, but at the back of it you will know that there is a teaching or preparation you are going through.

Your failures, tests and challenges will become important schools of education, one time he said to me ‘Son, even your failures are important to me if you will let me use them’.

There is a school of the spirit that we need to pass through if we will be qualified to access the glorious destiny that God has prepared for us.

You need to allow the Lord to prepare you for the things he has for you, there are important lessons to learn if we will speak or act for God in whatever sphere of influence God has assigned to us.

Years ago the Lord spoke to me about a coming revival, but he also said that many whom he had chosen to be a part of that great work of the Spirit will miss it, I believe one reason may be that they never allowed him to prepare them to take their place in this revival.

No army will send untrained recruits into battle if it hopes to win its wars, neither will the Great General himself, it is not too late, God can still prepare you for your glorious destiny if you will yield to him today.

Unprepared spouses mean failed marriage

Nothing reveals the folly of unpreparedness like in our marriages, If the many people who are daily crying out to God for a spouse, will yield to him and let him prepare them, they will not need to pray as much, nothing will tax grace like a marriage. It is said that the rate of divorce in the Church is higher than that in the world, loads of people enter the marriage relationship without a clear understanding of its requirements.

Israel’s experience

Why did God need to send Israel to sojourn through the wilderness on her way to her place of destiny? For Israel just as for you, the wilderness was God’s training ground, it is in the wilderness that the lessons of life, faith and the kingdom are learnt, many Christians wonder why they seem out of reach of the many wonderful promises that God has given them, it is because between where you are and your glorious destiny is your training school.

First generation Israel failed to enter her glorious destiny because they failed to understand the purpose of the wilderness.

Look at this

All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers.

And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed the with manna, which thou knowest not, neither did thy fathers know, that he might make thee know that men doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth men live.
Deut 8:1-3

The wilderness is God’s school of preparation, God gave a promise to Joseph and prepared him through tests and trials until he was ready to assume the great destiny God had for him.

“He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant,

Whose feet they hurt with fetters, he was laid in iron until the time that his word came; the word of the Lord tried him” Ps. 105:17 -19.

How long does God need to prepare a man? I really don’t know, for 13 long years Joseph waited in the school of God but when the set time came He was ready, Abraham spent 25+ years, Jesus began His ministry at after 30 yrs, Paul entered his apostolic call about 13 yrs after his visitation, what about Moses? it took him 40 years in Egypt and another 40 years in the wilderness before his education was complete, I believe that the work we are called to do has a part to play in the length of preparation, whatever the case you need to be prepared. In fact as I write this it crosses my mind that even nations must pass through their times of preparation, Maybe Nigeria is passing through hers now.

The tragedy of life is that many believers live and die without ever finding and fulfilling their divine purpose in God, many because they never understood that the born again experience was not the end of a journey but the beginning of a journey into purpose, no one taught them these truths, some others because they never understood that there was a distance between where they were when they came to Christ and where God had purposed them to be and that distance was the wilderness or preparation ground and most others because they simply started the journey but never completed it, they metamoriphicaly speaking died in the wilderness due to unbelief, disobedience, grumbling, idolatory etc I trust God that will not be your portion in Jesus Name.

A very important part of preparation is being part of a Church family where the leadership understands the importance of helping their people follow the Lord Jesus Christ, Paul said to the Corinthian Church ‘Follow me as I follow Christ.

My observation is that many Church families talk about discipleship but fail abysmally because they don’t understand the purpose and nature of biblical discipleship, True biblical discipleship has the chief purpose ‘that Christ be formed in you’ the success of biblical discipleship will be seen in people who grow into Christ in all things and are progressively increasing in their ability to fulfill their purpose in Christ.

To be a disciple is more than attending a bible class, it is a disposition of mind, a position of dependence, a submission to a higher way and a total focus on the one into whose image we are being conformed to.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, God is preparing you for a life of usefulness and purpose, decide to allow Him have His perfect and entire work in you so that may you be ready when your set time has come, is the word of the Lord trying you? Allow it to have a complete and perfect work in you; you will be glad you did.

God bless you
